Project Pirate Torty!

Updated: Jul 24, 2019

I have GOOD news and BAD news. Let's start with the BAD...

The Courtroom Project is unfortunately put on hold. Honestly, I never really expect myself to be able to finish it. My coding skills are still Beginner Level while my plans for this game is extremely complicated. My art skills, well, let's just say I can't draw humans realistically or cartoony.

For The Courtroom, I used tons of free assets, both art and music, and those don't sit well with me. Sure there are many games that are great even with using free assets but for some reason, I'm just the type of developer that don't like using assets that I can't call mine. It slowly does not feel like it's my game. Also, I have little choices (that are free) so the assets I used cannot reflect the vision I have for the game. I'm proud that I got far with this game though. From the dialogue mechanics and the visual novel/RPG-like story, I am proud of the idea. Perhaps I can work on this project again once I have reached a high level in developing. But for now, goodbye... Here's a collage as a tribute to my big plans for this project.

GOOD news is however, 2D platformer project is being developed right now! Project Pirate Torty will be my first attempt in creating my own assets from scratch and making a 2D game with a compelling story and minimal coding help from tutorials and forums! I'm currently enjoying it very much! I'm also proud that I have come this far in my art skills! Sure it's not extremely great and beautiful like Hollow Knight, but it's cute and... friendly! Haha.

Take a look!

Name: Captain Torty and The Pirate's Curse (Working Title)

Genre: 2D Puzzle/Platformer

In order to once and for all finish a game, so I can call it a game not a project, I'm progressing in baby steps and aiming for a gameplay time that is 1-2 hours long. Frankly, making a 10-hour long game is too much work for me and if this is my first game I plan to complete, I should aim more realistically.

So yeah, that's the GOOD news for now. I hope I can bring more good news in the near future! Till then,

Keep game-deving!
